I was invited to serve as a “Fulbright Specialist” for six weeks in February and March, 2014, providing support to ABV-Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management Gwalior, India. One of the primary areas of support was assisting in organizing the International Conference on Environment, Technology and Sustainable Development which took place at ABV-IIITM Gwalior, India, 2-4 February, 2014.
I was also fortunate to be able to lecture in “Ecology and Sustainable Development,” a required course for all of IIITM’s IT and Business students. My lectures and documentation of the teaching experience can be found here. Students in the course served as conference rapporteurs.
Ongoing projects related to the conference include an edited volume, under review with SAGE Publications, tentatively titled Managing Sustainable Development: Case Studies of Governance and Adaptation in South Asia.
We are also working with two journals to publish additional papers from the conference. Finally, we intend to prepare a second prospectus for a book that gathers a number of conference papers on the theme of urban sustainability challenges in South Asia.
